Machu Picchu with Overnight

Early in the morning we will take the train from the city of Cusco(3350m) at about 6:00am, that will take us halfway to a beautiful scenery in the village Aguas Calientes, where we will arrive at about 10:15am. This is where we will take our bus that will bring us to the archeological complex of Machu Picchu.

The location of Machu Picchu, in the middle of the canyon of the Urubamba, couldn’t have been chosen better. It’s clearly evident that Machu Picchu was a construction planned and designed precisely to fit in the landscape around it. It’s the result of a unique set of experiences, where the work of man and nature are integrated with great success. The irregular topography was transformed in terraces with agricultural and urban aims and merges with the surroundings, although it also shows, at least, two dozens of rocks which, as scale models, represent the surrounding topography.

In the sanctuary of Machu Picchu, surrounded by majestic snow-covered mountains, exist abundant flora and fauna, which attracts locals and strangers. The famous Inca city of Machu Picchu is the most important symbol of the Andean culture. It is difficult to find a comparable place to Machu Picchu anywhere in the world. This sanctuary is one of the most important archeological monuments in the world, and declared as cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO, together with the city of Cusco.

Visiting Machu Picchu with a professional guide represents a unique experience. The mystic solemnity that comes off its’ imposing walls and the mysteries that those stones involve, inspire a deep respect to the constructors of the monumental work, who knew how to conjugate the art of their creation with the capricious and wild nature.

Alter having enjoyed unforgettable moments at Machu Picchu, we must return to the village of Aguas Calientes to take the tourist train (leaving at 3:55pm), which will bring us back to Cusco (arriving at 8:20pm).

Machu Picchu An optional night in Aguas Calientes.
