Cusco on a Shoestring 7 Days

The Cusco Adventure Package takes you to the Machu Pichuu, the historic City of Cusco, and the legendary Inca Trail.  This trip was designed for those who are more budget conscious, and still want to experience the highlights of Cusco. This trip can be extended up to 17 days visiting both Lake Titicaca and the Peruvian Jungle.

 

Program

Day 1: Cusco
The first day you will be greeted at Cusco International Airport and private transport to your hotel. After, arrival at your hotel you will receive an introduction covering, your itinerary, the City of Cusco, suggested restaurants, and all necessary information for your Journey. The afternoon is free to rest, acclimatize, and visit museums in Cusco.

Day 2: Cusco and City Tour(B)
You will have the morning free to explore the city of Cusco and enjoy the stunning colonial buildings. After, lunch you will you will be picked up near the Plaza de Armas. The tour starts in the historic heart of the city visiting the colonial Cathedral and then the Temple of the Sun. After, that you will go up to the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qengo, Pucapucara, Tambomachay. Then you will head back towards Cusco and be dropped off at your hotel around 6:30PM.  In the evening you will have free time to sample a wide restaurants and entertainment options in Cusco.

Day 3: Cusco - Km 82 – Inka Trail (B, L, D)
You will be picked up at your hotel around  5:30 am by private tourist transport.  First, we will head for the Sacred Valley of the Incas (km 82), where we will meet the rest of the team and will start the Inca Trail. In Miskay we’ll have lunch and get some information about the archeological complex of Llactapata. After that, we will continue our hike to Wayllabamba (3100m/10170f) and ascend to Yuncachimpa (3300m/10826f), the camping site we will spend the night in.
Hiking time: 06 hours

Day 4: Yuncachimpa - Llulluchapampa – Warmihuañusca pass - Pacaymayu - Runkurakay pass – Chaquicocha (B, L, D)
Early in the morning, we will hike uphill through the Valley of Llulluchapampa (3850m/12631f) heading towards the highest point of this section, which is called the Warmihuañusca pass (4200m/113780f). From there, we will have a great view of the mysterious Nevado de Verónica. After a short break, we will continue our hike towards the Runkurakay pass (3050m/10007f) until we arrive at our camping site called Chaquicocha at (3650m/11975f). During the day, we will visit the settlement of Runkurakay and Sayacrmarca.
Hiking time: 07 hours

Day 5: Chaquicocha - Phuyupatamarca – Wiñayhuayna (B, L, D)
The third day is the most beautiful one. You will have a nice walk through the challenging ecosystem and the tropical forest of Wiñaywayna. The nearest settlement is named Phuyupatamarca (3600m/11811f), a place where you can enjoy impressive Inca engineering. After that, we will visit the settlement of Wiñaywayna “Forever young” (2650m/8694f), which is also our last camping site.
Hiking time: 07 hours

Day 6: Wiñayhuayna - Machu Picchu – Cusco (B)
After breakfast at around 5:00 am, you will head - equipped with flashlights - to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) to watch the sun rise over Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu. Around 8:00 am we will visit the citadel of Machu Picchu (2400m//7874f) and enjoy its spiritual charm during a guided tour of about two hours. After, you will have enough time to explore the archeological site on your own. We will leave Aguas Calientes in the afternoon and you will arrive back to Cusco sometime early in the evening. There you will be greeted at the train station and transferred back to your hotel.

Day 7: Cusco and Horseback Riding (B)
You will be picked up from the Plaza de Aramas around 9AM for a half day horseback ride. The ride will be lead by a professional guide who will take you up through the ruins of Saqsayhuman. After, this you will go up into the hills around Cusco where you will have stunning views of Cusco and the surrounding mountains. After your trip you can enjoy lunch in Cusco and get ready for your included private transfer to Cusco International Airport.
